Former President of WB and “Harry Potter” Alan Horn named Chairman of Disney Studios
The New York Times is reporting that Alan F. Horn, who was the President and COO of Warner Brothers movies and the highly profitable Harry Potter franchise has accepted the position of Chairman for Disney Studios.
Mr. Horn resigned from his position with Warner Brothers last year as he was “squeezed out to make room for a new generation of managers” reports the article. While running Warner Brother’s movie operation, he drafted a blueprint for an operating strategy that has been adopted by virtually every major studio: focus on effects-filled event pictures, or “tent-poles,” that resonate overseas.
Mr. Horn’s vast knowledge and experience will extend to the Marvel, Pixar and DreamWorks Studio brands for the Walt Disney Studios Corporation. He will have oversight of Disney’s music label and Broadway division as well.
Good luck to you Mr. Horn, and from MuggleNet and the fans of Harry Potter, we thank you for your dedication and hard work in helping to make Harry Potter the most successful franchise of all time.
