Teams are gearing up for Muggle Quidditch at the Olympics Torch Ceremony in Oxford
Are you ready for some Muggle Quidditch? We are!
Muggle Quidditch at the 2012 Summer Olympics Torch Ceremony event will be the center of attention this coming Sunday and Monday, as five National teams will be competing against each other: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and France.
That’s right! Canada has been a recent entry into this amazing event that will take place on Sunday, July 8, with a Round Robin tournament involving all five teams at Cutteslowe Park from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. (BST).
Then, on Monday July 9, the UK team will host an exhibition match just before the Olympic Torch arrives at South Park against the best team from the Round Robin tournament. This event is completely sold out!
Wondering how you can watch the action without the use of Floo Powder or a Portkey? There are three options available to you:
- Major Media
Currently three global media outlets are planning to come to Oxford to record segments of the demonstration game on Monday. Air times of the segments and/or links will be published as soon as they are available.
- YouTube
An in-house team of IQA volunteer video staff led by Samantha Medney of UMD Quidditch will be capturing a selection of games from Day 1 from multiple angles. Edited footage will be published as soon as possible after the event on the IQA’s YouTube channel.
- Twitter
If you want up-to-the-minute scores, photos, and updates, make sure you are following @Quidditch2012 on Twitter!! (Don’t forget that Oxford, like London, is on British Summer Time, and 5 hours ahead of East Coast US time. This website can help you figure out your time difference).
You can still order a custom Muggle Quidditch Olympic jersey from your favorite team through the International Quidditch Association website. Click on the team jersey link you wish to order: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, France.
MuggleNet will be priviledged to have an exclusive report on the events of the tournament by a very special friend to the site. So stay tuned.
Good Luck to all five National Teams!
