“The Casual Vacancy” will not have a midnight release (except on the West Coast)
According to a recent article by Pottermore News, there will NOT be an official midnight release for J.K. Rowling’s new adult novel The Casual Vacancy.
Many fans of the Harry Potter series were speculating that a midnight release of Rowling’s soon-to-be-released novel would be an expected and normal event. After all, it’s a J.K. Rowling novel, right?
But the truth of the matter is that the publishers at Little, Brown and Company confirmed that the official release will be at 8:00 a.m. Britsh Summer Time and the equivalent time worldwide on September 27.
This means that for most of the world there is no chance of having a midnight release party. However, if you live on the West Coast, when it’s 8:00 a.m. BST, it’s actually midnight Pacific Time. So maybe the West Coast stores will celebrate with a midnight release after all.
Here are some equivalent time zones:
- NZST (NZST) – 8:00 p.m.
- EST (Australia) – 6:00 p.m.
- WST (Australia) – 4:00 p.m.
- AST (Canada) – 4:00 a.m.
- EST (Canada & USA) – 3:00 a.m.
- CST (Canada & USA) – 2:00 a.m.
- MST (Canada & USA) – 1:00 a.m.
- AKST (USA) – 11:00 p.m. (September 26)
- YST (Canada) – 11:00 p.m. (September 26)
- HST (USA) – 10:00 p.m. (September 26)
