‘Potter’ actress Miriam Margolyes to perform ‘Dickens’ Women’ in Chicago next month
If you are in the Chicago area in the week prior to Christmas you will definitely want to head over to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Upstairs stage to watch Miriam Margolyes – the British actress who portrayed Professor Pomona Sprout in the Harry Potter films – as she is performing her one-woman show titled Dickens’ Women from December 18-22.
As the Chicago Sun-Times reports, Margolyes will be bringing to life 23 of Charles Dickens female characters, ranging from “doe-eyed young heroines to browbeating old harridans.” These characters will include favorites like Mrs. Micawber (David Copperfield), Miss Havisham (Great Expectations), and Mrs. Gamp (Martin Chuzzlewit).
Tickets for the show can be obtained by calling the Chicago Shakespeare Theater box office at (312) 595-5600 or by visiting www.chicagoshakes.com. Ticket prices are $50-60.
