Mini-movie with ‘Harry Potter’ cast to be used for Platform 9 3/4 or Hogwarts Express ride
When we first heard of the mini-movie being filmed with the cast of the Harry Potter films for use within the Wizarding World theme parks, we first suggested it would involve the Hogwarts Express ride to transport attendees from the “rumored” expansion area (where the Jaws ride and Amity Island previously existed) to the Islands of Adventure area that currently houses Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. Many other sites suggested it would be used for the Gringotts Bank cart ride since the actors confirmed were Helena Bonham Carter and Rupert Grint (Bellatrix Lestrange and Ron Weasley, respectively).
Now, according to Hypable, it appears our original suspicions were accurate:
Rumors say the Harry Potter characters will appear in the queue for the ride and celebrate a new school year. The line to ride the train will obviously be a lengthy one, so the storyline may imply that the long lines are due to the new school year at Hogwarts beginning.
As MuggleNet previously reported, while the Hogwarts Express would appear very realistic on the inside with narrow walkways down one side of the train and individual doors leading to separate compartments and a pair of face-to-face seating benches similar to the films, the train windows would also be a movie screen, presumably to provide the passenger the appearance of traveling across the Scottish mountains. This seems to be the ideal ride to have a few Death Eaters like Bellatrix attack the train and provide additional entertainment.
Whether this mini-movie is shown in the Platform 9 3/4 waiting queue or if it is shown on the actual Hogwarts Express ride still remains a mystery. But we are anxious to get more details in the coming months. Hopefully, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios will release the “rumors” status and make the details public knowledge soon. Either way, we are still anticipating a summer or fall 2014 opening to the expansion area.
