MuggleNet Visits “Wand Week” at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter
From February 16 to the 24, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is having ‘Wand Week,’ a complete celebration of wands; from how they are made, to the elaborate choreography that makes wand duels look natural & oh so impressive. Our resident witch, Rosie Morris, was in the middle of the action and shares with us a bit about what has been added to the tour specifically for this special occasion:
Additional areas in this week’s tour include an extended work station beside the usual ‘wand wheel’ where a wand crafter from the films is on hand to explain how each of the three types of wand are made. You can watch as a wooden wand is carved, see the moulds used to create resin versions and see the rubber wands that are less likely to cause damage if someone attacks you with Expelliarmus! Each character had their own wand design, which were influenced by the actors themselves, so look out for your favourite and see if you can find links to their characters.”
You can read the rest of Rosie’s report on our Studio Tour page [Wand Week: February 19, 2013].
The video above, which was posted on the official Harry Potter Facebook page, features Wand Choreographer Paul Harris. Harris worked on the last film and choreographed all of the battle scenes you see within the film.
What special event, such as ‘Wand Week,’ are you hoping the Studio Tour brings fans in the future?
