Student raises funds for “Relay for Life” charity with “Potter-themed” dance
“AVADA KEDAVRA CANCER!!!” This is the theme that University of Mary Washington’s senior Becca Poole went with during the school’s recent Yule Ball themed event to raise money for the charity Relay for Life.
According to an article in the school’s newspaper, The Bullet, Poole decided to create a Relay for Life team at the University after learning that her grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. Poole’s Freshman sibling twins Sarah and Daniel came up with the idea of the Yule Ball themed dance and helped Becca Dormstorm with flyers to attend the event on campus.
The dance was a success as the students raised more than their initial goal. Congratulations on putting together a meaningful event with a Harry Potter theme.
