Daniel Radcliffe Reveals He Is “Incredibly Proud” of “Potter”
Speaking with Yahoo! News, Daniel Radcliffe has talked of getting work post-Potter and how “incredibly proud” he is of having played the boy wizard.
In a recent interview to promote his upcoming return to the London stage in The Cripple of Inishmaan, Radcliffe commented that he felt “like everyone wanted Potter to be more of a handcuff than it actually was.” He went on to say “I think Harry Potter is going to be around for a while, a long while, but as long as it doesn’t inhibit me getting parts in the present time, then it’s fine.
The interview makes reference to the range of projects Daniel has undertaken since completing the film series, noting that they seemed to have been chosen specifically to “wrong-foot anyone seeking to pigeonhole him” but despite making these moves to challenge himself as a performer, he has no plans to forget the films that made him a star in the first place.
“People always say, ‘Don’t you just want to forget about it?’ No! That was my entire adolescence.”
The Cripple of Inishmaan will run from June 8 – August 31 at the Noel Coward Theatre, London. Tickets can be purchased here
