Woman who Brought “Potter” to Alnwick Castle Honored at Royal Television Awards
Gayle Woodruffe won the prestigious Centre Award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting this week, at the Royal Television Awards for North East and The Borders.
The Production Service Manager for Northern Film & Media was heralded as an ‘unsung hero’ to Northern English production services with her work bringing countless film and television production companies to the area, providing local jobs and placing the North East on the global stage for film and television production.
It was acknowledged that, “Her number is on speed-dial for every crew, facilities house and production company in the North of England, and she is known and trusted by the big network players both here and in Hollywood. Without her charm and determination, Harry Potter would never have set foot in Alnwick Castle.”
Alnwick Castle was, among others, the location for the infamous first flying lesson in Harry Potter and Philospher’s Stone.
Congratulations to Gayle on her award and for her work on Potter.
