New roles on the horizon for “Potter” actors Frank Dillane and Brendan Gleeson?
Though we are still awaiting confirmation that the role is his, The Wrap has reported that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince star Frank Dillane is in current negotiations for a role in Ron Howard’s maritime film In the Heart of the Sea. According to IMDB, the film is based on a novel by Nathanial Philbrick about a whaling ship and its crew that were stranded for three months at sea after being attacked by a sperm whale in 1820. Dillane will reportedly play “an insubordinate crewman” by the name of Coffin.
For those who haven’t kept up with the now 22-year-old actor who played Tom Riddle, the only film role Dillane has taken since Half-Blood Prince has been in an independent film Papadopoulos & Sons, starring opposite his father, actor Stephen Dillane of Game of Thrones fame (Stannis Baratheon).
In addition to Dillane, another Harry Potter alum has signed on to the project according to Variety. Actor Brendan Gleeson, otherwise known as Alastor ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody, will be playing an “older version of a surviving crew member”. The movie is currently listed as being in pre-production and is slated to begin filming this fall in London.
