The Ballad of Snape (The Hero of Hogwarts)
One of the best things about being fans of the Harry Potter series is that you just ‘get’ what fandom is about. When you see people dressed up as their favorite character, when you stand in line for hours just to attend a midnight premiere of the films, or you carry around a dog-eared hardback copy of the books, you are part of a fandom culture that will support practically anything related to it. And there is a certain thrill that a fan gets when one fandom crosses into another, like the video you are about to watch.
Fans of Joss Whedon, creator, director, and writer of such television series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and films like The Avengers, will get a kick out of the following fan-made short film starring Vladimir Snape, a special friend of MuggleNet and many other Potter fans. An homage to Whedon’s canceled, yet still-flying, television series Firefly, the video takes one of our favorite Potter characters and inserts him into the ‘verse of the series, modeled after a fan favorite episode entitled “Jaynestown”. For fans of Dr. Who, don’t worry – there’s a bit of an Easter egg in there for you as well! If you’re a fan of Firefly, you’ll instantly pick up on the similarities of the scenes, along with the familiar tune. Just for fun, I’ve also included a link to the original Firefly scene for reference purposes!
