Daniel Radcliffe on “Fantastic Beasts” and Getting Naked on Camera
At the recent Sky Drama launch, Daniel Radcliffe was asked the inevitable question concerning the recent Fantastic Beasts news – and responded with his familiar dry wit and total honesty.
I first thought, ‘Thanks, Jo; I’m going to have to answer tons of questions about this now.’ I’m sure they’re going to have a great time. I’m sure a lot of people will be really excited. I, needless to say, won’t be involved. I don’t know if any of us [original Potter cast] will be. I know nothing about it.
Radcliffe was present at the launch to promote the second series of A Young Doctor’s Notebook and Other Stories, about a doctor working in rural Russia during the Revolution. The first series, also starring John Hamm and shot in just twenty days, was highly received by audiences and critics alike, prompting Radcliffe’s desire to sign on for a second series. However, just one thing concerned him.
After the rather iconic image of himself and Hamm together in a bath, there were questions as to whether Radcliffe would be stripping off again. Radcliffe, however, had other ideas. Before beginning shooting he had asked for no nude scenes due to the fact he “got naked in three films last year.” He later joked, “At some point everyone’s going to start assuming I’m an exhibitionist.”
