David Yates has signed on to direct Who Is Jake Ellis? for Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The studio recently picked up the rights to the comic series by Nathan Edmonson and Tonci Zonjic, described as a mix between The Bourne Trilogy and Fight Club, and it is now out to screenwriters. This isn’t Yates’s only project in the works, however. He is currently casting a Warner Bros. live-action version of Tarzan.
On October 3, a new app to celebrate National Poetry Day was launched called the Love Book. The app will donate 10% of proceeds to Save the Children and features celebrities reading poems and love letters for the app user, including work from authors such as Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and J.K. Rowling. As reported earlier, Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) has already signed on to design shoes for the charity and adds this new role to her resume.
Her on-screen sister, Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy), also joins the charitable app and expresses the importance of the charity. “It’s important to support Save the Children and their work in this country and all over the world. They’re helping children through education, vaccination, and through the help they’re sending out to Syria; all this groundwork is vital to protect the rights of children.” You can purchase the Love Book through the App Store.
Alfonso Cuarón is currently enjoying the Oscar-buzz and record-shattering opening for his film Gravity with producer David Heyman, but he has other reasons to celebrate. The Believe trailer, which aired during Comic-Con this year, introduces viewers to a little girl who has special abilities and the as-yet-unnamed villain(s) who will stop at nothing to exploit them. The thirteen-part series was created by Cuarón, who also directed the first episode and is an executive producer along with J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek), and will air in the UK on Watch sometime in 2014. Watch the intense trailer here.
As fans, we love to be in the know on what the former cast of the Harry Potter series is up to. Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) appears to be one of the busiest actors of the bunch. After earning her degree in animation and illustration from Kingston, she began to hone her craft by taking on roles both on stage and in television, all while creating and starring in her own stand-up show, Bookworm. Next on her list is a television comedy series called Give Out Girls alongside Diana Vickers, which will air on Sky Living in the UK. To learn more about the series, which follows four girls whose job it is to hand out promotional fliers while dressed as light bulbs and other embarrassing costumes, check out the British Comedy Guide page here.
He may have portrayed one of the most hated wizards in the series, but Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) is taking on a new role as captain and mentor to Brad Pitt in the gritty war drama Fury per The Hollywood Reporter. The film is currently shooting in London. Isaacs is also slated to film a segment for Rio, I Love You and has wrapped Things People Do.
