Alfonso Cuarón named honoree of VES Visionary Award
The awards keep on coming for Alfonso Cuarón. After the release of his new film, Gravity, Cuarón has been named Best Director by the LAFCA, Visionary of the Year 2013 by GQ, and both the film and Cuarón have been nominated for a total of four Golden Globes. Per a press release from the Visual Effects Society, Cuarón will once again be honored for his work on Gravity and in recognition of his film career.
The VES Visionary Award, bestowed by the VES Board of Directors, recognizes an individual who has uniquely and consistently employed the art and science of visual effects to foster imagination and ignite future discoveries by way of artistry, invention and groundbreaking work. VES will honor Cuarón for his consummate artistry, expansive storytelling and profound ability to use and pioneer technology and visual effects to bring his unique visions to life.
Jeffrey A. Okun, the VES board chair, further expanded on the director’s career contributions to the film industry.

The VES Visionary Award will be presented to Cuarón on February 12, 2014, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Congratulations, Alfonso!
