Daniel Radcliffe lands another new role!
Following the announcement that Daniel Radcliffe is to take up the role of Billy Claven in The Cripple of Inishmaan again, another new role has been announced for the actor. Daniel is to star in Brooklyn Bridge, which is
the true story of brilliant but inexperienced engineer Washington Roebling, who is left to oversee the construction of New York’s Brooklyn Bridge following the death of his father.
Daniel is set to play Roebling and is the first cast member to be announced. Other cast members, including the leading actress, are due to be announced shortly. Roebling is
besieged by calamity, danger and doubt, whose obsession threatens his health and to drive his family apart until his wife Emily comes to his aid.
The movie will be financed and distributed by Goldcrest Films and will be directed by Douglas McGrath. McGrath, who has previously directed movies such as Emma and Nicholas Nickleby, has also written the script for the film.
The movie is due to start shooting in August 2014.
Pascal Degove, the managing director of Goldcrest Films, said of Daniel’s casting,
Having Daniel’s involvement is a massive coup for the film. Not only is he perfect for the role, but he’s [also] consistently proved himself to be one of the very few actors who is genuinely a massive draw for audiences of all ages.
It is clear that this is going to be yet another very different role for Daniel, and he has a very busy year ahead of him!
