Wool for Weasley sweaters to be made at New Lanark Mill, Scotland!
The Mill, which is less than an hour away from Edinburgh, will make the wool for the sweaters around the world. The Mill currently employs just eight people, and it is hoped that new jobs will be created by the demand for the wool. The Mill supplied the wool to make the original sweaters that Harry and Ron wear in the first Harry Potter movie, and it was this that sealed the deal for the wool-making company.
New Lanark Mill is a World Heritage Site, and visitors are warmly invited to visit. As well as boasting a functioning mill, the site also has a visitor center, conference spaces, accommodation, and a health and fitness center. The Mill already produces several different wools that are available to buy online now. The Mill is described as
… a small-scale producer of quality organic yarn, and our knitting yarn is produced using very traditional methods in one of the historic mills, where a 19th century spinning mule is still working and is powered by renewable energy from our own hydro-electricity production.
It is not clear, yet, when the sweaters will be available, but watch this space for more information!
