All 80 Muggle Quidditch teams are now slated for the Quidditch World Cup in April
Earlier today in the Southwest Regional Championships, Texas A&M claimed the title for the region as well as completing its run as the ONLY undefeated team in the United States for the 2013-2014 season, when they defeated the Lone Star Quidditch Club 140*-40 in the final match.
In addition to the finalists, ten other teams from the Southwest Region earned a spot in the Quidditch World Cup: Austin Quidditch, Baylor University, Louisiana State University (LSU), Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU), Oklahoma State University, Silver Phoenix, Texas State University, the University of Arkansas, the University of Texas, and the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA).
For the Eastern Canada Region, the qualified teams are Carleton University, McGill University, Ottawa Maple Rush, and University of Ottawa.
For the US Midwest Region: Ball State University, Bowling Green State University, Central Michigan University, Grand Valley Grindylows, Kansas University, Marquette University, Miami University of Ohio, Michigan State University, Michigan University, Minnesota University, Ohio State University, TC Frost, the Toledo Firebolts, and University of Missouri.
The US Northeast Region teams include Boston University, Emerson College, Harvard University, Hofstra University, Macaulay Honors College, New York University, QC Boston: The Massacre, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology University, Syracuse University, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts, and University of Rochester.
The US South Region is represented by Easter Florida State College, Florida’s Finest Quidditch Club, Rollins College, Tennessee Tech University, University of Florida, University of Miami, and University of South Florida.
The US Mid-Atlantic Region teams are Appalachian Quidditch, Hopkins University, NYDC Capitalists, Penn State University, QC Pittsburgh, Steel City Quidditch Club, University of Maryland, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Richmond, and Villanova University.
The US West Region teams are Arizona State University; the Long Beach Funky Quaffles; the Lost Boys; Northern Arizona University; Santa Barbara Blacktips; Silicon Valley Skrewts; Stanford University; University of Arizona; University of California, Los Angeles; University of Southern California; and the Utah Crimson Fliers.
Down under in the Oceania Region, the teams are University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.
Finally, rounding out the Top 80 teams in the Quidditch World Cup from the European Region are Antwerpen Beeters (Belgium), Belgian Qwaffles (Belgium), Brindisi Lunatica (Italy), Oxford University (UK), Paris Frog Quidditch (France), and Paris Phenix (France).
This promises to be the most exciting and hard-fought Quidditch World Cup yet. The competition takes place at the brand new North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex on April 5 and 6.
