“Noah”, starring Emma Watson, banned in several countries
Emma Watson’s newest film, Noah, may have a release date, but it has been banned in several Middle Eastern countries. Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates have informed Paramount, the studio behind the film, that they will not allow the film to be shown in their countries. Egypt, Jordan, and Kuwait are expected to follow suit. According to Moviefone, the countries that have banned the film cite Islamic law, which forbids films that portray prophets.
The article also mentioned several protests from religious groups in the US. Paramount has responded to these concerns by stressing that Noah is a creative take on the Biblical story.
