A New Era Has Begun – WELCOME to MuggleNet 3.0!
April Fools!
In honor of Fred (RIP) and George’s birthday, we at MuggleNet decided to go all out with our April Fools’ Day prank this year. So no, we are not shutting down altogether – we are just shutting down the old MuggleNet! Just like Fawkes, we are reborn from the ashes as we are proud to welcome you to the new MuggleNet.
In order to bring the fandom into the post-Potter books and films era, we decided that it was time to completely overhaul MuggleNet. So over the last year, our staff of volunteers has worked tirelessly to compile, organize, and revitalize the past fifteen years of MuggleNet. It was spread over thousands of web pages and can now be found in a condensed, mobile-friendly, easy-to-navigate format! In the end, we compiled, edited, transferred, and updated over 8,500 pages, 8,000 news posts dating back to 2002, and created many new sections such as cast pages, special projects, charity information, fandom projects, a rare Harry Potter books section, and a brand new Fantastic Beasts information hub.
In the past, MuggleNet focused on the wizarding world from the primary standpoint of the Harry Potter books and films, but the world and fandom is changing. The books have all been written, the films have all been released, and while we will always continue to love and support the Harry Potter franchise in its entirety, we also realize that we have an opportunity to expand our connection on the Internet with all of the Potter fans. With the imminent release of the Fantastic Beasts film trilogy, the expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Japan, and Hollywood, Muggle Quidditch, Pottermore, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, Harry Potter: The Exhibition, and so much more, we are positioning ourselves to continue to be your NUMBER ONE source for all things related to the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, and beyond.
The redesign took approximately 1,150 man hours by over 50 volunteers and took place over the course of twelve months. We are extremely proud and happy with the results – and hope that you are, too!
So without further ado, welcome to MuggleNet 3.0!
P.S. – In the spirit of this exciting news, we would appreciate your discretion on the matter. Much like Deathly Hallows back in 2007, please don’t spoil the surprise for others. Thank you!
