Young theater group actors chosen for new David Heyman film
30 lucky students from the Young Theatre Company, based at the Acorn Theatre in Worksop, have recently been chosen to appear as extras in the new David Heyman film, Testament of Youth. According to the Worksop Guardian, the film is set during the First World War and tells the story of a woman “who left Oxford University to serve as a nurse and then struggled to resume her life after her brother, fiance and closest friends were killed on the battlefield.”
The Young Theatre Company is aimed at young people aged between 5 and 18 and is a way for them to express themselves in various areas of the arts. About this intriguing opportunity, director of the theater company, Hayla Hawes said:
“It’s been great to offer this exciting experience to our pupils and we have been so proud of their professional attitude on set,”
Filming has been taking place in Keighly, Yorkeshire. Because of the certain era in which the film is set in, this also seemed to add to the excitement of the youngsters. One pupil, Joseph Taylor said:
“When we stepped onto Keighley Station platform with it’s steam train, old fashioned porters and First World War soldiers, we all just gasped in amazement,”
The film’s cast includes a number of famous faces; Kit Harrington, Colin Morgan, Dominic West and Emily Watson are just to name a few. The article also reports that the film should be released later this year.
