“Harry Potter” owl to take part in moonlight walk
Billy the owl, who played the Weasley family’s owl Errol in the Potter films, is to take part in the Moonlit Memories Walk next month in Portsmouth. The owl has already visited the daycare center at the Rowans Hospice on two occasions and will now be at the launch of the charity’s biggest fundraiser in June.
Sophie Gunner, a fundraiser for the hospice, got the chance to hold Billy the owl. She said,
I have always been a Harry Potter fan, so it was a wonderful experience holding Billy and to have a photograph taken with him.
He was very friendly and is obviously used to getting a lot of attention.
We would like to encourage more people to sign up for our Moonlit Memories Walk, and Billy will be on hand to pose for photos with walkers from 9pm until the start of the walk at 11pm.
The walk, which will be the seventh nighttime walk Portsmouth has held, will take place on Saturday, June 21 and starts and finishes in Castle Field, Southsea. There is a six-mile or twelve-mile route for walkers to choose from.
Walkers will also have the opportunity to light a candle in Portsmouth Anglican Castle, while Portsmouth City Band will entertain the crowds at the start of the walk. All money raised will go toward supporting people in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire affected by life-threatening illnesses.
Registration is £20 per person and is open to everyone age thirteen and up. Participants will also receive a T-shirt, medal, and refreshments for their efforts.
