Hogwarts Academia – A magical afternoon of “Harry Potter” discussion and learning
The Los Angeles Dumbledore’s Army – the second largest Harry Potter fan group, which has been in existence since 2008 – is having another fantastic meet-up on Saturday, July 19.
From the official Press Release:
The Los Angeles Dumbledore’s Army, the second largest Harry Potter fan group in the United States, will be gathering at Vroman’s Bookstore at 695 East Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, CA to discuss a diverse array of topics, all magically linked the vast world of Harry Potter. Vroman’s Bookstore has graciously allowed us to use an upstairs event to host this event, which takes place Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Speakers, including two university professors, will be covering thought provoking topics including “Social Justice Themes in Harry Potter”, “Psychology in Harry Potter”, “Harry Potter Fan Fiction”, “Harry Potter Life Lessons,” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” among other topics. Attendees are welcome to come in their Hogwarts school robes or Harry Potter cosplay! Due to the academic themes to be discussed, we only suggest this event for adult Harry Potter fans. Admittance is free, and if you get hungry during the event, you can purchase coffee and snacks from the Vroman’s café on the first floor and bring them to “class.”
For the past three years the Los Angeles Dumbledore’s Army has proved it was up to the task of entertaining the masses by hosting annual Harry Potter rollerskate nights, a Harry Potter-themed bowling night, and fandom bar trivia evenings. These events are so successful that the Los Angeles Dumbledore’s Army has been recognized by LA Magazine and in several online publications.
