Miriam Margolyes’ new play “Neighborhood Watch” breaks box office record
Neighborhood Watch, the new Australian comedic play about hope, death, and pets, which starred Miriam Margolyes (Pomona Sprout), has broken the State Theater Company’s box office record, becoming the highest grossing production in its history. Another milestone was also passed with Neighborhood Watch becoming the first State Theater Company production to gross in excess of $400,000.
During its three-week run, over 10,000 people have seen the production. Heralded as a triumph for State Theater Company, Neighborhood Watch has received critical acclaim, with critics highlighting a “stand out” performance by the “utterly irresistible” Miriam Margolyes. The actress traveled to Adelaide specifically to perform in the play, which is her first Australian theater production as an Australian citizen.
