Trailer released for “Quirke”, starring Sir Michael Gambon and Geraldine Somerville
The first trailer has been released for the new BBC One drama series Quirke, which stars Sir Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) and Geraldine Somerville (Lily Potter).
The series, which is set to premiere on BBC One in the UK later in the month, will feature Irish actor Gabriel Byrne as the chief pathologist in a Dublin city morgue. Quirke is based on a series of novels by Irish writer Benjamin Black and is set in 1950s Dublin, and Byrne’s alter ego is a man of the time. He is fond of a drink, a cigarette, and a rich meal and spends most evenings nursing a “post post-mortem drink” and wincing through most mornings with a hangover.
Each of the three episodes will focus on a different story and investigation, but as well as his efforts to find out what exactly caused the sudden death of the person laid out on his mortuary slab, viewers can expect to see the good doctor making the discovery that some of his cases are linked to his personal life in a way that he couldn’t have expected.
