Becoming Harry Potter: Discovering Your Magic #MyMuggleMagic
Yeh don’ know… yeh don’ know…” Hagrid ran his fingers through his hair, fixing Harry with a bewildered stare.
“Yeh don’ know who yeh are?” he said finally.
…
“Harry—yer a wizard.”
There was silence inside the hut. Only the seas and the whistling wind could be heard.
“I’m a what?” gasped Harry.
“A wizard, o’ course… an’ a thumpin’ good’un, I’d say, once yeh’ve been trained a bit….”

On his eleventh birthday, Harry receives an unexpected gift—purpose. He discovers that he can do, was born to do – magic.
Many of us long for Hagrid to bust down our door and tell us that we are able to do magic, that we belong in this place called Hogwarts, that we have rare gifts and abilities that connect us with a very special world. We want to discover that we are witches or wizards.
But the thing is, we all have magic on the inside. Yes, even us Muggles. We all have something inside of us that, if trained up a bit, if acted upon and practiced, will grow to be something magical. Perhaps it is writing or movie making or singing or dancing or acting or engineering or gardening or saving people or teaching, etc. Whatever “it” is, when we recognize “it” and develop “it” we will find that magical ability within us that joins us to a special group of people and fills our lives with purpose.
We don’t have to be able to shoot sparks out of wands to do magic. We Muggles are capable of extraordinary magical abilities if we choose to find that bit of magic within us and grow it into something great.
Ah, music,” he [Dumbledore] said, wiping his eyes. “A magic beyond all we do here!” – SS
Challenge: What is your magic? If you know what you are (writer, painter, reader, gardener, teacher, dancer, musician, producer, photographer, engineer, accountant, entrepreneur, firefighter, ect.), declare it. Share it with us. We want to celebrate with you. #MyMuggleMagic
If you don’t know what your magic is, your challenge is to find it. Ask the people closest to you what abilities they see in you. Think about things that you do naturally. I didn’t realize I was a writer, though I wrote for as long as I can remember, until I graduated college with an accounting degree! When I figured it out, it seemed so obvious. Your magic is there in you; we all have it, but sometimes it is so obvious we miss it. Hunt it down. Figure it out. And when you do #MyMuggleMagic, let us all know you’re a _______!
