MuggleNet Throwback: The Inside Scoop on Butterbeer!
Four years ago this week, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure had been enjoying being open for a little over two very magical months, much to the delight of fans around the world who came flooding into the Orlando theme park to visit the magic of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle firsthand. But along with the main attractions of the theme park came something extra special that few people had yet to experience: butterbeer! And for this week’s MuggleNet Throwback, we’re taking a look at the Wizarding World’s dream treat, including something most of us probably don’t want to know – the nutritional info!
There’s no doubt that if you’ve had a chance to visit either of the Wizarding World theme parks, you’ve tried this sugary drink. But have you ever wondered what the content of butterbeer is? Walletpop brought us the answer to this very question when it did testing on the drink and dug up these nutritional facts:
Butterbeer has…
Calories: 200
Fat: 3.5 grams
Carbohydrates: 42 grams
Sugar: 29 grams
Protein: 0 grams
Wow! While we imagine this isn’t going to help ease your mind as you down your second or third butterbeer at the park, it sure is interesting to know. Less than five months after the release of these details, the Wizarding World announced the sale of its one millionth butterbeer in the park in January 2011; they celebrated by giving 1,000 butterbeers away to theme park visitors for free. Butterbeer ice cream has also become a recent addition to the theme park’s menu, and we can testify that it’s every bit as enjoyable as its beverage counterpart.
