2014 New Now Next award nominations announced!
The nominations for the New Now Next Awards have been announced, and the list contains several former Potter stars and projects that Potter stars are associated with. The awards take place annually and celebrate the “best new talent in pop culture.”
One nominee is Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) for his role in It’s Only a Play. Rupert is nominated for Best New Broadway Actor, and the play is also up for Best New Broadway Production (Play).
Alfie Enoch’s (Dean Thomas) TV series, How to Get Away with Murder, is nominated for Best New Television Series.
David Thewlis’s (Remus Lupin) upcoming film The Theory of Everything is nominated for Best Motion Picture By a New Filmmaker, as is John Hurt‘s (Garrick Ollivander) recent film Snowpiercer. Also in the category is The Fault in Our Stars, directed by Josh Boone, on which Eduardo Lima, one of the designers for the Potter films and half of design team MinaLima, worked on.
Ira Sachs and Mauricio Zacharias of Love is Strange, featuring Christian Coulson (16-year-old Tom Riddle, Chamber of Secrets), are nominated for Best New Screenwriter.
Finally, Gugu Mbatha-Raw is nominated for Best New Lead Film Actress for her role in Belle, which features Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy).
The
winners will be determined by public vote and announced during a ceremony in December.
The ceremony will take place on December 7.
