People’s Choice Award nominees announced
The voting period for the 2015 People’s Choice Awards opened today, allowing the public to cast their votes in various film, television, and music categories. The nominations were announced from Los Angeles by Allison Janney (The Help, Juno) and Anna Faris (The House Bunny, Scary Movie), who will also host the show airing on CBS on January 7, 2015. Check out the Harry Potter alumni who were included:
Noah, a movie based on the biblical story of Noah’s ark, starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie.
Downton Abbey, which stars Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall), is nominated for Favorite Network TV Drama.
David Tennant (Barty Crouch, Jr.) is nominated for Favorite Actor in a New TV Series for his Fox show Gracepoint, which takes after the British show Broadchurch. The show, which is also nominated for Favorite New TV Drama, follows the murder investigation of a young child in a small town.
How to Get Away with Murder, which stars Alfie Enoch (Dean Thomas), is also up for Favorite New TV Drama, while Viola Davis, who plays Annalise Keating in the show, is up for Favorite Actress in a New TV Series.
Maleficent, in which Imelda Staunton (Professor Dolores Umbridge) plays the fairy Knotgrass, is up for Favorite Family Movie.
Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort are nominated for Favorite Movie Duo for their roles as Hazel and Gus in The Fault in Our Stars, on which Harry Potter graphic designer Eduardo Lima worked.
A final and surprising Potter connection found in this year’s nominations comes in the form of Ed Sheeran for Favorite Male Artist. As some fans may remember, Rupert Grint actually starred in the music video for Sheeran’s song “Lego House” back in 2011.
