Quidditch Canada announces regional playoffs dates and locations
Quidditch Canada recently announced not one but two regional playoffs set for early February for the 2014-2015 season.
Kingston, Ontario, will once again play host to the eastern division playoffs. The tournament will take place Feb. 7-8, 2015, at the Kingston 1000 Islands Sports Complex, located just outside of the city in Westbrook, ON. To give all teams enough time to get to and from Kingston on Feb. 7, the tournament will go from 12 p.m-8 p.m EST. For the first time ever there will be playoffs for the western division in companion to the eastern division. Moose Jaw, SK, located in the heart of the Canadian prairies, will play host to the western teams. The new Yara Centre will have teams playing on Feb. 1, 2014. Currently, times for this playoff tournament are unknown; Quidditch Canada is still looking into how many teams will be playing. For more information click here.
The National Playoffs were also announced to be played at the Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia, on March 28-29, 2015. The National Playoffs will be played outside, whereas the regional playoffs will be played at indoor facilities.
The regional tournaments are open to both league and development teams. The National Championship is limited to only league teams.
Teams are able to register for the regional championships through December 31, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST. Teams wanting to also play in the National Championship have until January 31, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST to register.
Quidditch Canada was formed in July 2014. Before then the organization was overseen by the former International Quidditch Association (IQA).
