Jim Broadbent to attend special screening of “Iris”
Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn), along with actress Dame Judi Dench and director Sir Richard Eyre, is set to attend a special screening of his award-winning film, Iris, where he will take part in a Q&A after the film has been shown. The screening will take place on January 18 at the Tricycle Theatre on Kilburn High Road, London. The event will be organized by Jim Carter (Downton Abbey actor and husband of Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge)), who has apparently done so for previous events at this specific theater. About the event, Carter said,
I’m delighted to be hosting the Tricycle’s season of well-loved British films. After the success of last year’s screenings, we’re launching this season in style with Iris.
Iris was first released in 2001 and tells the true story of the relationship between novelist Iris Murdoch and her husband John Bayley. Broadbent gained recognition for the film by winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, while Dench won the BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The film also stars fellow British actors Kate Winslet and Hugh Bonneville.
If you live in or near the area and are interested in going to the event, visit the theater’s website for more details.
