Julie Walters surprises students at Sandwell Academy
Earlier this week, Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) made a trip to visit Sandwell Academy in West Bromwich. Her agent received a request for an autographed book from a student who belonged to the Academy’s Walters House, named after the actress. Rather than send the book, the school was informed that she would be in the area and would pop in to sign the book in person.
Julie’s visit was a top-secret surprise, and headteacher Simon Topper revealed that the visit was a great experience:
What a wonderful treat for the academy students and staff. Julie Walters charmed all [whom] she met, and her visit to the academy will be well remembered by all and provided plenty of inspiration for our students.
During her visit, Julie met with Walters House leaders and was given a tour by Year 11 student Matthew Woodcock and Sixth Form student Alex Round before being treated to a performance by Year 9 students. They performed “You’re the One That I Want” from the March production of Grease. You can view photos from her visit here:
The Academy’s Twitter page also shows a photo of Julie with students from her house. Take a look at the tweet below!
