David Heyman reveals familiar face to help create “Fantastic Beasts”!
David Heyman has revealed what we’ve been hoping for – that previous Harry Potter production designer Stuart Craig will be returning to the wizarding world for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!
In an interview with Collider, Heyman expressed his thoughts on his experience with Potter, including milestones in his own life that took place during the production of all eight films, as well as watching Dan, Emma, and Rupert growing up throughout the successful series and moving on to do great things in their careers.
I loved being in the Potter universe, and it was an incredibly happy 12 years of my life, and there was a wonderful… it was a great experience in so many ways.
He goes on to reveal the information that Craig will once again be involved in creating the pre-Potter world for Fantastic Beasts:
Jo’s world is… the world she creates is so vivid and imaginative and fun to be a part of, to work in, and the experience of sort of conjuring up these worlds is such fun. So to do it with her and Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram, who’s involved, too, and David Yates and Stuart Craig, who will be designing it, is great, it’s exciting. It’s a great world to return to.
He states that Warner Bros. has built more stages at Leavesden, so there will be ample room to film the new trilogy planned for Fantastic Beasts. They do not currently have specific dates for casting or filming, but he did let us know that they plan on beginning filming late this summer and that so far, he only plans on working on the first film.
While David stated he only plans on doing the one film, he did mention that the studio is considering three films, which we announced previously based on statements made by Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara. We wonder if David will wait to see how successful the first film is before signing on for the other two? Will there be multiple directors for the trilogy, following the precedent set by the previous Potter films?
