Natalia Tena nominated for Goya Award for Best New Actress!
Ever since actress Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) first showed Harry Potter fans her acting ability in 2007’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we knew it was only a matter of time before her talent would be recognized on a larger scale. It seems that time might have arrived, with the announcement of the nominees for the 29th edition of the Goya Awards (the Spanish equivalent of the Academy Awards). For her role as Alex in the film 10,000 km, Tena has received a nomination in the category of Best New Actress!
In an interview with Vulture back in July, Tena discussed her role in the film. On her character, who tries to maintain a long-distance relationship with her boyfriend, she said,
I think it’s sadder being the person left behind than the person going. Long distance[…] it’s the all-time question, isn’t it? Can love work long-distance? Especially when we’ve got all these means to communicate? But it doesn’t substitute smelling or touching someone. And it almost makes it worse because it’s like torture, because they’re not quite there.
10,000 km has picked up additional nominations as well. Carlos Marques Marcet has been nominated in the category of Best New Director for his work on the film, and Natalia’s co-star, David Verdaguer, has been nominated for Best New Actor for his role as Alex’s boyfriend, Sergi.
The complete list of nominees for the 2015 Goya Awards can be found here. The awards ceremony will take place on February 7 and will be hosted by Spanish actor and comedian Dani Rovira. You can view the trailer for 10,000 km here.
