Art Directors Guild Award winners announced!
We’re in the middle of award season at the moment, and the latest batch of winners to be announced comes courtesy of the Art Directors Guild Awards, which gives out awards based on production design excellence.
The awards were announced on January 31 and took place in Beverly Hills. Unfortunately, many films that Potter alumni were involved in were not successful at the awards, but it isn’t all sad news.
The Grand Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson and starring Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), picked up the award for Best Period Design, beating out The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything.
Game of Thrones, which has featured a number of Potter alumni, picked up the award for Best Production Design for a Period or Fantasy TV series. The series currently features Julian Glover (voice of Aragog) and Ciarán Hinds (Aberforth Dumbledore). Previous cast members include David Bradley (Argus Filch), Michelle Fairley (Mrs. Granger), and Natalia Tena (Tonks).
