Potter DIY: A House Divided
Every Potter fan has, at some point, wondered how their personality traits would score them in a go with the Sorting Hat. Then came Pottermore – and with it, the birthing of the infamous but ever-accurate (after all, it is canon, no?) Sorting Hat Ceremony. The answer fans had been waiting for had arrived… right?

Birds of a feather flock together. Or that’s what they say, at least. But what happens when your main squeeze – the wizard to your wheezes, the pumpkin to your pasties – isn’t sorted into your house? Why, you make a new one, of course!
This is exactly what Stephanie S. decided to do when she and her husband took the Pottermore quiz and weren’t Sorted into the same House. Stephanie got crafty and painted the crest of what she is calling a Gryffepuff.
Samantha is a scenic artist and paints scenery for theater, which she has been doing for 11 years now. She took a cork board and painted over it, printed both the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff crests out, rubbed chalk on the back so that she could use the pictures to trace on the board, and then hand-painted the rest!
She also did the above painting while at work – at the end of every season her co-workers paint the floor, and Stephanie decided she wanted this year’s to be Chamber-themed. She also painted the below for one of the doors in the paint area at her job!
Bravo to Stephanie for some seriously great artwork and DIY here! Be sure to check out our other DIY features and project tutorials on our main Potter DIY page!
