World Book Day inspires new world record from fans and joke from J.K. Rowling
People across the UK and Ireland are participating in World Book Day today, an unofficial holiday celebrating authors, illustrators, books, and reading. Many events are honoring specific books, such as Harry Potter.
Tanbridge House School in Horsham, England, set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Harry Potter, with 512 students in costume!
J.K. Rowling participated in the online celebrations of World Book Day by tweeting that she is writing a book, which she followed by retweeting several pictures of fans and pets dressed as Potter characters. Jo then tweeted a picture (shown below) of a fan dressed as Narcissa Malfoy with Chris Rankin, who played Percy Weasley in the Potter films.
Why has Percy Weasley got his arm around Narcissa Malfoy? Find out in my new… kidding. I’M KIDDING. #NotAPrequel pic.twitter.com/ZZ6HJZrDY3

Although Jo shut down ideas of a Potter prequel, fans are still speculating what her new book could be about.
