How did you become a Harry Potter fan?
I received The Philosopher’s Stone as a gift from my grandmother for my fourth birthday. I was immediately enthralled and was constantly badgering my mom to read it to me, as I could not yet read it myself. I made it a point to learn how to read so I could continue the books on my own. Embarrassingly enough, it took me about three years to read them all, but one of my clearest memories to this day is 7[-]year[-]old me slamming down the Deathly Hallows and saying, “I’m done.”
Describe what being part of the Harry Potter fandom has meant to you in seven words or less.
I am me because of it.
What is one theory you had about the books before they finished that you wish had come true?
I never had to wait for a book, but I remember really wanting Crabbe and Goyle to turn on Draco and possibly hex him. Then, the two of them could off and become Harry’s spies inside Slytherin. Needless to say, I’m not a big Draco fan.
If you could have one prop from the set of the films, which would it be?
I would really like to have Harry’s Firebolt. I’m am a bit of a Quidditch nut (I spent much of spring break developing a Quidditch card game and a series of Quidditch[-]inspired calisthenics), so I would love to have anything connected to it. The great thing about a broomstick is you can’t ignore it, and even my parents would probably understand what it is. Also, I could mount it on the wall in my room. That would be awesome!
