“Harry Potter and the Art of Spying” Authors to Attend Chestertown “Potter” Festival
Last October the first ever Chestertown Harry Potter festival took place in Maryland, celebrating everything Harry Potter with costume contests, Quidditch, a scavenger hunt, and much more. Well, it has been announced that the festival will take place again this year – and although it still seems a little way off, the festival will take place October 2 -3, 2015 – plenty of time to get yourself organized!
The events are mostly free, but some will require booking, and ticketed events will
benefit the MSCF’s Fund for Kent County and the nonprofit Garfield Center for the Arts, which plays host to many of the weekend’s events.
Here’s a taster of what the weekend will involve:
This second annual festival takes flight on Friday, Oct. 2, at 4:30p.m. with a talk and discussion on ‘Harry Potter and the Art of Spying’ at [t]he Bookplate, 112 S. Cross St. Then, [M]uggles and wizards alike will want to grab their robes and wands for the festival’s [k]ick-off [p]arty at the Garfield Center for the Arts at 210 High St., […] 6-9 p.m. This event welcomes fans of all ages for wizard rock, magical demonstrations by an infamous Potions’ master, photo booth, trivia and more.
The authors of Harry Potter and the Art of Spying, who have been featured on MuggleNet podcasts Alohomora! and MuggleNet Academia, will be present. You can find out more here.
But in case that’s not enough for you, the fourth annual Harry Potter Conference is set to take place later in October, on October 16, 2015, at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. This
interdisciplinary conference provides a forum for scholarly presentations arising out of J.K. Rowling’s series. The conference is free and open to the public.
Don’t forget to check out MuggleNet’s podcasts before the events, where you can indulge in your love of Harry Potter!
