Fantastic Beasts Visit American School of Witchcraft & Wizardry
As the United States gears up for the filming of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the well-hidden American wizarding school invited the Daily Prophet out to see which fantastic beasts are visiting their school.
“Producers want us to have a bit of everything on hand,” said Professor Hornclaw, who teaches Care of Magical Creatures at the school. “Thought it’d be nice for the students to help take care of some of ’em during the school year.”
Professor Hornclaw led me through an array of barns erected for the sole purpose of housing creatures that may show up in the film—Crups, hippogriffs, ghouls, a phoenix, an Augurey, Puffskeins, Doxies, a baby dragon, and more.
“Had to make that stall fireproof, if ya know what I mean.” He winked.
“Er, students will be handling the dragon as well?”
“Why not? He’s just a baby, and they’ve got to learn somehow. ‘Throw ’em in the deep end and see if they float’ is what Mama used to say…”
“Er, right, well, I suppose you are the teacher.”
When American students return in the fall, Care of Magical Creatures lessons will be compulsory for all years. Each year will be responsible for the well-being of different grades of beasts with first years caring for the least dangerous—Flobberworms, Puffskeins, and such – and seventh years the most dangerous—the dragon and probably the Acromantula.
At least three parents have sent Howlers to the dean, but none have pulled their children from the school.
