“Downton Abbey” Meets… “Star Wars”?
Downton Abbey, the British period TV drama starring Dame Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess, isn’t something you might associate with science fiction film series Star Wars. But stranger things have happened – and of course, for charity, anything can happen.
The cast of Downton Abbey recently armed themselves with lightsabers in order to help Robert James-Collier (Thomas Barrow in Downton Abbey) raise money for the Chilterns MS Centre, a British charity that provides care for those with multiple sclerosis.
Everyone here understands MS, whether it’s our expert and approachable staff, our fantastic volunteers or one of our 440 members themselves. MS is endlessly variable, totally unpredictable and can lead to disability. We provide comprehensive and holistic care such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, oxygen therapy, acupuncture and massage to 300 people each week. We also have a dedicated carers support service, as we know that MS affects the loved ones of the people with MS too.
The first installment of Downton Wars helped the cast raise over £15,000 for the charity, so a second installment, which can be seen below, was posted online.
First, though, catch up with the first installment:
Downton Wars: Episode 2 – The Evil Butler Strikes Back features none other than Dame Maggie Smith herself. Check it out to see Smith wielding a lightsaber!
