Are We Going to Get Set Reports from “Fantastic Beasts”?
We all have a lot of feelings about the updated Pottermore, but whether those feelings are good or bad, there’s one thing for certain – whoever the Pottermore Correspondent is, they have a lot more access to the top secret goings-on of the Potter-verse than any of the rest of us, and most recently that means a visit to the set of Fantastic Beasts!
The first set report, posted today, doesn’t actually reveal… anything (except for how captivating the author happens to find Colin Farrell). The Pottermore Correspondent talks about how exciting it is to be on set for a film fans are all dying to see and how thrilling it is to be near great actors like Colin Farrell, Eddie Redmayne, and Katherine Waterston. But as perhaps is to be expected, very little is revealed beyond that.
Now, I can’t tell you exactly what goes down in this scene. Partly because I have no idea what’s going on and partly because it takes so long to get the perfect shot; we’re sitting there 25 minutes while the same frame is done over and over and over. But I do know this much: it’s a very important moment for Newt (Eddie), Tina (Katherine) and Graves (Colin) in New York. Very important indeed.
With perfect precision, Katherine Waterston gently places a significant object on the floor. Colin Farrell arches an eyebrow with extreme meaning. Other exquisitely dressed actors act and react to the same gestures until a fragment of the scene is done.
So… that’s not a lot to go on! But it’s still exciting to be reminded that Fantastic Beasts is busy making its way into the world even as you read this post and that at least someone is getting a glimpse of what the film will be like – which means that it really can’t be too far off until we get a look ourselves. The Pottermore Correspondent does close their post with a tease that there might be more insightful posts in the future:
It’s time to walk the streets of New York in winter, without leaving the UK. Obviously, I’ll tell you all about it. You’ll just have to come back and read more of my dispatches.
The question for fans is whether or not those posts will actually reveal anything interesting about the filming of Fantastic Beasts or if future reports will just be more vague details about what it’s like to be on set. We’re certainly hoping for the former!
What are your thoughts? Do you think Pottermore will give us a real glimpse of what’s going on at Leavesden? What do you hope future set reports might reveal?
