Sony Pictures has now pushed back the US release of Risen by four weeks to February 19, 2016.

Following the release of the extended trailer in August, a stunning new poster for biblical epic Risen, which stars Tom Felton, has been released. Sadly, the poster does not provide us with any new insight into Tom Felton’s character Lucius, but the poster, showing Felton’s co-star Joseph Fiennes, provides an exciting glimpse of Felton’s next big screen outing.
A synopsis of the film per Sony Pictures tells us a little more about Tom’s role:
Follows the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius, a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius, are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.
The film is expected to be released January 22, 2016, but Tom and fansite Feltbeats indicated via Twitter that there will be an advanced screening of the film this week on October 8.
Tom Felton has also recently wrapped action thriller Stratton, which co-stars recently announced Fantastic Beasts cast member Gemma Chan. Take a look at Tom’s Instagram post below, along with some photos of Tom and Gemma on the set!
Stratton is based on the series of the same name by Duncan Falconer, which sees a UK Special Boat Service (SBS) operative (Dominic Cooper) track down an international terrorist cell. Stratton is also set for release in 2016.
It certainly looks as though Tom Felton will be very busy in the near future, and we can’t wait to see his return to the big screen!
