Rupert Grint Will Save the World in a New TV Pilot Series!
Deadline announced yesterday that a comic book drama written specifically for Rupert Grint was given a put pilot commitment by NBC. In addition to starring in the pilot, Rupert will also produce!
A put pilot commitment is a pilot that the network agrees to air either as a special or as a series, which generally guarantees that the series will be picked up by the network. If they do not air the series, the network typically owes the studio a lot of money.
Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta wrote the series based on an idea from producer Aaron Kaplan, with Rupert in mind since Rupert is a huge comic book fan. Take a look at the synopsis of the series below, which will also be produced by Warner Bros. TV:
Rupert, a low-level New York office drone obsessed with Imperial City, a comic book series his father created before his death. Rupert has spent his whole life believing he owned all nine issues. But when a mysterious comic book collector reveals the existence of a tenth issue, Rupert discovers that the world of Imperial City is real, and he is the one person who can save it.
No word yet on when the series will begin shooting or when it will potentially air, but we are very excited at the possibility of seeing Rupert on our televisions on a weekly basis!
