IQA Announces Host of World Cup 2016!
Previously known as Summer Games, then Global Games, IQA will officially hold the Quidditch World Cup in Frankfurt on July 23-24, 2016. Rebstocklage sports facility, in a bid sponsored by Deutscher Quidditchbund and the city of Frankfurt, was unanimously selected by the IQA Events Committee and Executive Team for its excellent facilities and amenities, its ease of access and central location for many Quidditch-playing nations, and its clear preparation and readiness for the undertaking.
The complex will offer all the amenities expected of an international competition, with facilities available to make the running of the event as straightforward as possible. Many nearby hotels with great access to public transportation to the venue are available to host participants and spectators.
We are excited about this opportunity to welcome the world to the heart of German Quidditch and look forward to working together with the IQA to ensure a memorable tournament experience for both players and spectators.
Lisa Struck, Chair of the Frankfurt2016 Organizing Committee, said,

We believe that Frankfurt, a major travel hub, will prove to be an ideal gateway to the players and fans of the Quidditch world next July as we crown our newest World Champion!
Harrison Homel, IQA Executive Director, said,
Biannually, the IQA conducts a detailed bidding process for the World Cup. The organization received impressive bids from three continents this year and faced a difficult deliberating process. The decision was ultimately based on costs associated with hosting the event, cost and convenience of attendance and travel for a global player base, and geographic rotation as much as possible.
The team is now hiring tournament staff for this event. Check out the volunteer page for more information.
Keep an eye out for more exciting news regarding this event, as more information and international competitors are announced!
