Ralph Fiennes, Imelda Staunton Nominated for Evening Standard Theatre Awards
Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) and Imelda Staunton (Professor Dolores Umbridge) have both received nominations for the 2015 Evening Standard Theatre Awards, which are set to take place at London’s Old Vic on November 22.
Fiennes is a nominee in the Best Actor category for his performance in George Bernard Shaw’s Man and Superman, which played at the National Theatre’s Lyttelton earlier this year. Staunton, who last week was honored with a UK Theatre Award, has been nominated for Best Musical Performance for her portrayal of Momma Rose in the Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Gypsy.
Gypsy, which also scored a nomination for Best Musical, is playing at the Savoy Theatre in London’s West End until November 28, and BBC is planning on broadcasting a recording of a performance at a later date. Check out a trailer below:
Other nominees include Martin McDonagh, who directed Daniel Radcliffe in The Cripple of Inishmaan; James McAcoy, Radcliffe’s co-star in the upcoming horror film Victor Frankenstein, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who starred in Belle with Tom Felton, appeared alongside Eddie Redmayne in Jupiter Ascending and will next be seen co-starring with Emma Watson and Emma Thompson (Professor Sybil Trelawney) in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast.
