Ron Perlman Reveals Fantastic News About His Character in “Fantastic Beasts”
Ron Perlman was a guest at the recent Comic Con in Providence, Rhode Island. Perlaman is known as being an amazing actor, and many may know him from his roles in movies such as Hell Boy, Hell Boy 2: The Golden Army, and Pacific Rim. All eyes were on Perlman again when it was announced earlier this year that he had been cast in the upcoming film adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
He worked on filming for his role in Fantastic Beasts just a week before the Rhode Island Comic Con, and according to an article on the Telegram, along with discussing his relationship with director Guillermo del Toro, his roles in previous projects, and his disdain for most of today’s movie-makers, Perlman also let something drop about his character (a two-and-a-half-foot goblin) in Fantastic Beasts during his panel. Perlman had this to say about his role:
The movie takes place in 1914 Manhattan with Newt Scamander, who’s this magician who comes to New York to buy the girl he’s trying to win over a little exotic gift, and he gets caught up with this thing, and he comes to my nightclub. I’m a gangster who owns a speakeasy. He comes to my nightclub to get information, […] so I have this one scene in the movie with Newt and his friends. Newt is played by Academy Award-winner Eddie Redmayne, who was in ‘The Theory of Everything’ … And I steal the movie. I’m like the Donald Trump of acting. My acting is so good. You’re not going to believe how good it is.
We’re sure Perlman meant to say that the film takes place in 1926, of course! Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to release on November 18, 2016, in the United States.
