David Heyman Presented with Producers Award by Gary Oldman
Late last year, we learned that Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts producer David Heyman would be receiving a special award at the 2016 Producers Guild Awards. The awards took place last night, January 23, where Heyman was presented with the David O. Selznick Achievement Award. The award was presented to him by Gary Oldman (Sirius Black). Oldman has previously presented Heyman with awards, including in 2012, a Motion Picture Showmanship Award.
The presentation was preceded with a video clip from director Alfonso Cuarón, who has worked with Heyman on a number of occasions, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Gravity. Before presenting the award, Oldman said of Heyman that
I’ve never seen him settle for second best.
You can see some pictures of Oldman presenting Heyman with the award below.
On receiving the award, Heyman said,
This is an extraordinary honor, all the more so because it’s given to me by my peers and the PGA, who really understand what it is I do and what a crazy calling we have as producers….it’s the greatest job in the world. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
He further stated,
Jo Rowling literally changed my life, and I can’t thank her enough.
A few days before receiving the award, Heyman spoke about the opportunities he has had over his varied career.
I’ve been very fortunate, and I’m all too aware that I’ve had opportunities not afforded to people who are every bit as talented — and people think that you know a lot more about how this business works than you actually do.

Congratulations to David Heyman – a very well-deserved award!
