Selection Committee Announced to Create US National Quidditch Team
Gather up your broomsticks and Quidditch robes; the International Quidditch Association (IQA) World Cup will be hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, July 23-24, 2016! This tournament will host Quidditch teams from all over the globe. The US National Team will represent the United States in this major event, and the coaches, players, and officials who will participate are to be selected in the coming months by the selection committee.
This committee was chosen by US Quidditch (USQ) staff from a pool of applicants who each wrote an essay that went in-depth about their interest in the committee and its responsibilities, their experience with the sport, and their vision for the team. The applicants who were chosen include three community members, four USQ regional coordinators, and a USQ gameplay coordinator. The members are as follows:
Amanda Dallas is the editor in chief at the Eighth Man – a popular Quidditch site. She used to be an editorial manager for USQ and is also a co-founder of Major League Quidditch.
Ryan Sparks is a head referee and is also a writer for multiple Quidditch websites, including the Eighth Man and the Quidditch Post.
Steve DiCarlo, the third community member, is a player for the LA Gambits and creator of the first Quidditch analysis site – the Golden Snitchy.
Colin Richards, Erin Mallory, Josh Mansfield, and Kym Couch are the regional coordinators and have expansive knowledge on the USQ, as well as an abundance of experience in a leadership position.
Martin Pyne is in charge of Quidditch Reference, as well as having experience in the USQ and as a referee.
With these extremely qualified individuals choosing who will be apart of the US National Quidditch team, we trust that they will choose the best group to represent the US at the World Cup!
