Would Matthew Lewis Like a “Fantastic Beasts” Cameo?
Since playing Neville Longbottom, Matthew Lewis has put his a hand to many a different project – at the moment, you can catch him in Victorian drama Ripper Street (which is now available to watch in the UK on Amazon Prime). In a recent interview with MTV, while promoting the show’s fourth season, Matt was of course asked whether he was excited for the hugely anticipated Fantastic Beasts movie and whether or not he would like a cameo – this is what he had to say:
Of course I’m looking forward to seeing it; it’s got some incredible talent involved in it. Jo’s back doing it; David Yates, David Heyman […], people I’ve grown up with and loved over the years… they’re all back involved. I’m sure it’s going to be fantastic.
In terms of a cameo…maybe. Isn’t Neville like minus 70? Isn’t it like really old?
That would be hilarious indeed, although maybe a tad far-fetched. He goes on to talk of Neville’s life after Potter and the character’s impact on his life and career, but could he imagine going to play that role any further?
I loved it, and it was an important part of my life, but after ten years, I’m not sure how much more I can really do with it. And that’s not because of Harry Potter; it’s just everything […] You can love a project and be so passionate about a character, but as an actor, we love becoming different people. Finding that person to begin with is just so much fun.
