Universal Studios Hollywood Introduces Ticket Reservation System, Demand Pricing
Today, Universal Studios Hollywood announced via press release that it is introducing EZ Rez, described as “an innovative, easy-to-use online ticket purchasing system featuring an array of new consumer benefits designed to enhance visits to [t]he Entertainment Capital of L.A.”
One of the benefits for EZ Rez ticket holders is that they will be given early entry to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the theme park, set to open to the public on April 7.
Additionally, the Los Angeles Times reports that Universal Studios Hollywood has begun using demand pricing, meaning that those planning to visit the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as the article explains, should “be prepared to pay more than if [they] want to go, say, on a slow Tuesday in September.”
As the Los Angeles Times states,
So-called demand, or variable, pricing is nothing new to airlines and hotels. They have long charged higher prices on holidays and during popular seasons. Uber and Lyft charge higher rates during hours when the car-hailing services are in most demand. (Remember New Year’s Eve?)
While pricing at the gate is reportedly set to remain at $95, those who purchase their park tickets online can save up to $20.
